Internet Law Firm Advises Dot
Coms
and Other "Netpreneurs"
D.C. Attorney Says the Future
is Wired and So is His Firm

June 1, 2000 – (Washington, D.C.) Harvey
S. Jacobs, Esq., a pioneering attorney in the growing niche
of "Netpreneurship," says his clients are online so he is, too.
Jacobs recently launched Jacobs & Associates, Attorneys at Law,
a Washington, D.C.-based Internet law firm specializing in e-commerce,
venture capital, domain name issues, intellectual property and
trademarks, and other legal matters related to the Internet, as
well as traditional corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, contracts
and real estate transactions.
"My corporate law practice has become more and more about Internet
issues over the past several years," says Jacobs, "and I found
that I truly enjoy working with these new companies that are creating
- literally right before our eyes - the future of commerce and
industry. It's fascinating and exciting work." Jacobs has represented
a number of e-commerce clients and has also helped small content
providers negotiate with giants such as AOL. High-tech business
owners are pleased to have an attorney who understands technology,
and Jacobs' own Web site at www.internet-law-firm.com
has drawn clients from as far away as Australia.
In addition to corporate and Internet law, the firm assists Washingtonians
in residential real estate transactions through its subsidiary,
Stress-Free Settlements. Jacobs also owns and manages a Web site
called www.venture-capitalist.com,
an online matching service that brings together entrepreneurs
and venture capitalists. The site has been mentioned recently
in a Business 2.0 story on how to launch an Internet business,
on ZDNet/Anchordesk and other online business publications.
Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from
The George Washington University and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law
School. He is admitted to the bars in D.C., Maryland, and New
York, and is a member of the American Bar Association and the
D.C. Bar Association, where he chairs the real estate committee.
Jacobs is a director of the Downtown D.C. Kiwanis Club and a sponsor
of the Baltimore-Washington Venture Group. He is also a frequent
contributor to legal and business periodicals, as well as a popular
speaker to business groups on topics relating to law and the Internet.
Jacobs & Associates was formed after an amicable split with his
long-term business partner (and former college roommate). In addition
to Jacobs, the new firm includes Associate Michael
S. Gottlieb in Washington, D.C. and Neil
I. Jacobs (no relation), of Counsel in New York City, who
provides counsel on securities issues.
A successful entrepreneur since the age of 8, Jacobs ran his first
business (a tomato stand) near the beach in New Jersey, and later
in high school he owned a successful Florida condo-cleaning business
with 500 customers. He lives in Potomac, Maryland, with his wife,
a former magazine editor, and their two children. When he is not
participating in the evolution of the Internet, he plays tennis,
coaches his children's soccer games, and relaxes at the beach.
